About Lord Judah
Cornell “Lord Judah” Carelock has spent more than twenty years proving a single idea: that art, taught with intention, changes what a person believes is possible for themselves.
He is a Teaching Artist, Arts Director, and Creative Place Maker. He is the CEO of Judah Bless Ent and the Director of True He(ART) Academy. But before any of those titles existed, he was a kid in White Plains, New York, standing at a chalkboard in kindergarten, drawing E.T.
The room reacted. Teachers, classmates — all of them. That moment did what the right moment at the right age always does: it told him he had something. By fourth grade he had mastered drawing B-Boys. By middle school his yearbook named him Most Artistic, and hip-hop had taken hold of him completely.
At thirteen he took a summer job at Rye Playland and saved every dollar toward a sampler and a 4-track machine. Not a bike. Not sneakers. A studio. He started as a producer, then stepped to the microphone himself — first as The Soul Child, later as Lord Judah, a name given to him by his spiritual elders as a marker of his commitment to master the craft.
Two Decades of Work
What followed was a career built at the intersection of art and education. Lord Judah has integrated creative arts into school curricula, led professional development for educators, and built community engagement initiatives that treat culture as infrastructure rather than decoration.
His practice fuses three disciplines that rarely appear together: digital arts training, mindfulness instruction, and social justice education. He has worked extensively with youth and with special needs populations, and the through-line is always the same — resilience is teachable, and creativity is the vehicle.
Recognition
His work has been honored with proclamations for community leadership and youth advocacy, an Artistic Merit Award, and recognition as ArtsWestchester’s Artist of the Month. Westchester County, New York established “Cornell Carelock Day” in his honor.
He holds certification as a Hip Hop Kultural Specialist from the Temple of Hip Hop, is a Certified Mindfulness Instructor, and earned a microcredential in AI Tool Design and Prompt Engineering for Educators — a combination that lets him move between a cypher, a classroom, and a conversation about emerging technology without changing register.
The Personal Ledger
He is a son, a brother, a husband, and the father of four daughters. He has been married for twenty-six years to his high school sweetheart. Every framework he teaches about resilience and growth, he has lived inside a family first.
